Napa Writes Presents

Napa Young Writers Festival
Sunday, May 19th * 11am - 3 pm
Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater

The 2nd annual Napa Young Writers Festival celebrates the amazing young authors in our community. Students throughout the valley work all year to complete novels, poetry, scripts and illustrated stories. Now they can come together to share their stories and poetry, sell signed copies of their books, and enjoy inspiring talks by bestselling authors, screenwriters, illustrators, and poets.

Presenters this year include Veronica Rossi, Diana Greenwood, Hillary Homzie, Denys Cazet, Leonore Wilson, and more. This event is organized by the Napa Valley Writing Project, the Advanced Learner Programs and Services at NVUSD and the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at the Lincoln Theater. We also want to thank the Napa Valley Education Foundation for their generous sponsorship.

Napa Writes is partnering with the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater to expand creative writing options for young people in the Napa Valley. Our mission is to help young people explore the written word in all its myriad forms and develop the confidence to make it a meaningful part of their lives. Ultimately, our vision is for every Napa student to publish a book or produce a script before graduation. Working with teachers and the broader community, we organize in-class workshops, afterschool programs, camps, festivals and author visits. Collaborating with NVUSD’s Advanced Learners Programs, current projects include: Napa Valley Writing Project, Napa Young Writers’ Festival, Authors in the Valley, and The Word

Bits and Clips...

A rare first edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll raised $1.5m at auction in New York, making this the most valuable children's book ever sold. The book was Carroll's own working copy that he used to prepare the text for a simplified version for younger children. Only 22 copies of the 1865 first edition are known to exist today, 17 of which are in libraries and just five, including the copy just sold, are in private hands.
